Formalising our partnership with the Uganda IDI

The Uganda Infectious Diseases Institute (part of Makerere University) visited Amsterdam to discuss and formalise their long-term partnership with AIGHD. The goal of the visit was to identify common research areas and determine a shared future together.

Makerere University's College of Health Sciences

AIGHD, Amsterdam UMC, and Makerere University's College of Health Sciences came together to formalise their long-standing partnership. The signing was held at the Amsterdam UMC's main campus after a brief introductory programme by Prof. Constance Schultsz and Prof. Frank Cobelens.

Africa's premier conference on HIV science, the International Conference on HIV Treatment, Pathogenesis, and Prevention Research (INTEREST), continued our tradition in 2024 of bringing together the brightest and most passionate scientists and practitioners focused on HIV on the African continent. With nearly 1,200 abstract submissions and 800 attendees, the conference continued to grow its network.

In an era marked by unprecedented challenges and opportunities in global health, the concurrent theme of the 2024 Joep Lange Chair and Fellow Symposium and Masterclass, “Towards a Just Future in Global Health”, highlighted our commitment to equity, inclusivity, and sustainability in healthcare across the globe.

In the 2024 edition of the JLCF Symposium, we sought to challenge and reflect on the barriers that prevent equitable access to health across various affective variables such as economic status, society, and policy.
