19th INTEREST conference

The International Conference on HIV Treatment, Pathogenesis, and Prevention Research (INTEREST) continued its tradition of bringing together the African continent's foremost HIV scientists and practitioners. The 19th edition attracted 572 delegates from 36 countries and more than 1,000 abstracts.
In 2025, Namibia's prime minister and its health minister (pictures at the podium on the right) addressed attendees.

At the annual Joep Lange Chairs and Fellows symposium in Amsterdam, four eminent scholars set out their perspectives on how the world could find its way back to a sustainable and just future for global health.
Under the theme "Back to the Future", the discussion was framed across three interconnected dimensions:
- Systems: governance, regulation, and financing for health,
- Societies: ethics, equity, and citizen agency,
- Solutions: technologies and scientific breakthroughs.
