The European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health 2023

The 13th edition of ECTMIH was hosted in Utrecht, The Netherlands. AIGHD Executive Director Anna Vassall and EGHRIN Chair Antoni Plasència hosted the morning plenary session which tackled the EU's new Global Health Strategy, discussing its implications for research and project work.

Horizon and Global Health ECDTP3 Programmes in the Spotlight

Dr. Jan Paehler, a member of the European Commission (EC), presented the progress of the Horizon and EDCTP3 programmes since their inception. With a sizeable 1.6 Billion Euro budget shared across these programmes, researchers all over the world were curious about how these budgets were intended to be spend over the duration of the programme. Dr. Kerstin Klipstein (UMC Utrecht), Dr. Constance Assahou-Luty (WHO Africa), Prof. Irene Akua Agyepong (University of Ghana), and Lisa Goerlitz (DSW) all joined Dr. Paehler, Prof. Vassall, and Prof. Plasència on stage to discuss the EU's new Global Health Strategy including new ideas surrounding proposal funding and acceptance by the EC.
